Form 10C – Eligibility, Benefits, How To Fill, Attestation, Documents

Form 10C is a form that must be filled out for withdrawal of your pension. Of the 12% contributed to your EPF account, 8.33% is directed to pension, i.e. EPS account. Though this amount is secured for your retirement, it can be withdrawn during necessary circumstances like unemployment for 2 or more months, medical emergency and others. Therefore, to avail of the benefits while continuing to retain the membership with the Employee Pension Fund (EPF), the employee files Form 10C.

Eligibility to Apply for Form 10C

Eligibility Criteria - 1

  • A member who left the job before completing 10 years of service.
  • A member who attained 58 years of age before completing 10 years of service.

Eligibility Criteria - 2

  • A member who completed 10 years of service at the time of leaving, but has not attained 50 years at the time of filing the application.
  • A member who is between 50 to 58 years of age and does not agree to a reduced pension.

Eligibility Criteria - 3

  • Family members/ nominee/ legal heir of a deceased member who died after attaining 58 years of age but did not complete 10 years of service.

ITR Filing Last Date 2024
The last date to file Income Tax Return (ITR) for FY 2023-24 (AY 2024-25) without a late fee is 31st July 2024.

Types of Benefits Available

Let us know the benefits available to the members mentioned above:

  • A member falling in categories 1 and 3 above, shall apply for withdrawal benefits.
  • A member falling in category 2 above is eligible for a Scheme Certificate only. In case 2(b) above, if the member is willing to accept a reduced pension, he is eligible to apply for a pension in Form 10D.
  • A member who left service on account of any permanent disablement is eligible for a disablement pension, and he has to apply for it in Form 10D.

Documents to be Attached

  • Copy of blank/cancelled cheque
  • Date of birth certificate cheque of children of the member, if applying for Scheme Certificate
  • In case of death of the member’s death certificate
  • Succession certificate, in case application, is made by the legal heir
  • Revenue stamp of Rs.1 to be attached with the form .

Benefits of Scheme Certificate

The benefits of the scheme certificate are listed below:

  • Service period with the previous employer will be considered on taking up a job in a new establishment.
  • If a member does not take up employment, his family can get a family pension if he dies before he attains 58 years of age. If he survives, he gets the withdrawal benefits.

How to Initiate Claim using Form 10C Online?

Step 1: Visit the EPF member e-SEWA portal.

Step 2: Enter your UAN, password, and captcha code in the respective fields and click on the ‘Sign in’ button to log into your account.

Step 3: Click on ‘Claim Form (Form-31, 19, 10C & 10D)’ under the ‘Online Services’ menu item as shown in the image below.

Step 4: You will see the ‘Member Details’ screen with auto-filled information about your name, father’s name, date of birth, contact details, bank account details, and more. Just enter the last four digits of your bank account and verify it.

Step 5: Give your consent to proceed further by clicking ‘Yes’ on the ‘Certificate of Undertaking’ pop-up window.

Step 6: Select the ‘Proceed for Online Claim’ option in the screen that follows. 

Step 7: In the claims section, your details such as PAN, mobile number, and UAN will be displayed. 

Step 8: Choose the claim type as either ‘Withdraw PF Only’ (Form 19) or ‘Withdraw Pension Only’ (Form-10C). 

Step 9: Now, fill the claim form with the relevant details. 

Step 10: An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP in the form and submit. 

Step 11: Upon successful submission, an SMS will be sent to your registered mobile number. 

Step 12: Upon processing, the requested amount will be transferred to your bank account.

How to Download Form 10C for Offline Submission?

  • Date of joining and leaving
  • PAN and reason for leaving
  • Bank account details
  • Full Postal Address

All the particulars are to be filled in without any strikes/ corrections/ overwriting. In case of any corrections, it shall be attested.

Attestation - Offline Submission

The Form 10C needs to be attested by the employer and employee in the following cases:

  1. Submission of manual Form 10C in paper format, either downloaded online or form procured from a centre.
  2. In case of a closed establishment, whose Authorised Signatory/ Employer is not available, any of the following authorised officials shall attest with his office seal:
  • Magistrate
  • Gazetted Officer
  • Post/ Sub-Post Master
  • President of Village Union
  • President of the Village Panchayath, when the Union Board is not present.
  • Chairman/ Secretary/ Member of Municipal/ District Local Board
  • Member of Parliament/ Legislative Assembly.
  • Member of Central Board of Trustees/ Regional Committee of Employee’s Provident Fund
  • Manager of the Bank in which the Savings Bank account is maintained
  • Head of any recognised Educational Institution
