What is the Fee for PAN Card 2024?

The PAN card fees for a new PAN card or updated PAN card vary depending on whether you require a physical PAN card or not and the mode of submission of the PAN card application. The PAN card fees for Indian addresses are provided in the table below:

Charges for Reprint of PAN Card in India/Abroad

You can get your PAN card reprinted on the NSDL website when there are no changes in your PAN card details and get it dispatched in India or abroad. Here are the charges for the same, inclusive of taxes:

  • Dispatch of physical PAN card within India: Rs. 50

PAN Card Fees for e-PAN Card

There are no charges applicable for instant e-PAN cards applied on the Income Tax e-filing portal. If you apply to get an instant e-PAN card by using your Aadhaar number on the Income Tax e-filing portal, you will get the pdf of your PAN which is completely free of cost. 

However, if you apply for a e-PAN card on the NSDL or the UTIITSL website, the fees is as follows:

Duplicate PAN Card Fees 

You can apply for a duplicate PAN card online or offline. Who Can Pay PAN Card Fees?

The PAN card applicants must pay the PAN card fees. However, the Government of India has permitted other individuals to pay the PAN card fees on behalf of the applicant as provided below:

How to Pay Fees for PAN Card Offline?

You can pay the PAN card fee offline through any PAN centre. Here is the step-by-step procedure: 

Step 1: Download the PAN card application form from the Protean TIN website. 

Step 2: Fill out the form and attach supporting documents such as ID proof, photograph, etc. 

Step 3: Submit the application and documents to the nearest TIN-FC or PAN centre of Protean and pay the processing fee. 

Step 4: The PAN card will be sent to your address within 15 working days. 

How to Pay PAN Card Fee Online?

You can pay the PAN card fee online while applying for the PAN card online. Here is the step-wise procedure: 

Step 1: Visit the NSDL website or UTIITSL website.

Step 2: Choose Form 49A and fill it out with the required details. 

Step 3: Submit the duly filled form and pay the processing fee online. 

Step 4: After processing, you will receive an acknowledgement receipt. 

Step 5: e-sign your application using Aadhaar OTP authentication. Alternatively, you can send your application along with the documents to the NSDL/UTIITSL office within 15 days of submitting your application online. 

Step 6: After NSDL or UTIITSL verification, you will receive the PAN card at your address within 15 working days. 

Modes of Payment for PAN Card Charges

The mode of payment differs upon the applicants’ residential status.

Communication Address Within India 

If you are residing within India, you have the option to pay the fee via these modes:

  • Debit card 
  • Credit card 
  • Net banking 
  • Demand draft

However, it should be noted that for payments made through cards, debit or credit, an additional 2.00% charge will be applicable by the respective bank. Any payment made through demand draft should only be made in favour of “NSDL-PAN”, payable at Mumbai. Otherwise, the DD will not be accepted. For payments made via net banking, a surcharge of Rs.4 + Service tax will be applicable. 

Communication Addresses Outside India 

Residents outside India can make payments via the same modes, which are: 

  • Demand draft 
  • Debit card 
  • Credit card 
  • Net banking 

However, they have to pay the applicable conversion or exchange rate levied by the respective bank.

PAN Card Fee Refund

The Income Tax Department can deny issuing a PAN card due to various reasons, such as insufficient or incomplete documents or information or failure to follow the PAN card application guidelines while filing the form. In such situations where the PAN card issuance fails due to errors caused by negligence from your side, you cannot get a refund of PAN card fees. You will have to reapply for the PAN card by paying the fees again.
