Expert-assisted ITR filing for AY 2026-27, explained
What expert-assisted ITR filing actually means
Expert-assisted ITR filing means a qualified tax professional — not a piece of software, and not you alone at the income-tax portal — prepares, reviews and files your income tax return for Assessment Year 2026-27. You share your Form 16 and a few details; a dedicated expert reconciles everything against your AIS and Form 26AS, applies every deduction you are legally entitled to, and files the correct return on your behalf. For most salaried taxpayers that is ITR-1 (Sahaj); if you have capital gains, more than one house property or foreign income, it becomes ITR-2. The goal is simple: the maximum lawful refund, filed right the first time, with zero portal stress.
Who should choose expert-assisted filing
Expert help pays for itself the moment your return stops being trivial. It is built for salaried professionals with one or several Form 16s, people who switched jobs mid-year, anyone claiming HRA or a home-loan deduction, investors with capital gains from shares or mutual funds, freelancers with mixed income, and anyone who has ever received a mismatch notice. If your situation is genuinely simple — a single employer and no other income — you can self-file. But a second income source, a job change, or a deduction you are unsure about is exactly where costly mistakes happen, and where a reviewed return protects you.
What your EasyTax expert does for you
Your assigned expert reads both parts of your Form 16, cross-checks the TDS in Part A against Form 26AS and the AIS, and reconciles every entry so nothing the department already sees is left off your return. They test the old and new tax regimes on your actual numbers, then claim what applies — Section 80C investments, 80D health insurance, 80CCD(1B) NPS, home-loan interest under Section 24(b), and HRA exemption under Section 10(13A). Capital losses are set off and carried forward correctly. You receive a plain-English computation with your refund estimate, and nothing is filed until you approve it. Every return is reviewed by a qualified CA before submission.
Old regime vs new regime for AY 2026-27
For AY 2026-27 (financial year 2025-26) the new tax regime is the default. It offers a higher standard deduction for salaried taxpayers and lower slab rates, but removes most popular deductions such as 80C, 80D and HRA. The old regime keeps every deduction but taxes income at higher slab rates. There is no universally "better" option — it depends entirely on how much you invest and claim. A taxpayer paying rent, servicing a home loan and using the full 80C limit often still comes out ahead under the old regime, while someone with few deductions usually pays less under the new one. We compute your liability under both and file whichever leaves more money in your pocket, and you see the side-by-side comparison first.

Documents, deadlines & why it pays to use an expert
The documents you need — and why each one matters
Filing accurately starts with the right paperwork. You will need your PAN and Aadhaar, and the two must be linked — an unlinked PAN can render the return invalid. Bring Form 16 from every employer you worked for this year: Part A proves the TDS actually deposited against your PAN, while Part B breaks down your salary and deductions. Add your bank interest certificates, because savings and fixed-deposit interest is taxable and already appears in your AIS. If you claim HRA, keep your rent receipts; if you invest, include your 80C and 80D proofs and your home-loan interest certificate. Investors should also attach the capital-gains statement from their broker — the department receives this data directly, so omitting it is the fastest route to a notice.
Deadlines, penalties and consequences
The due date to file your ITR for AY 2026-27 is 31 July 2026 for most individual taxpayers who do not require an audit. Miss it and you can still file a belated return until 31 December 2026, but a late fee applies under Section 234F — up to ₹5,000, reduced to ₹1,000 if your total income is below ₹5 lakh — along with interest under Section 234A on any unpaid tax. Filing late also strips you of the right to carry forward most losses to future years. Filing early does the opposite: refunds are processed sooner, and you keep enough runway to fix any AIS mismatch before the deadline crush.
Why file with EasyTax
Every EasyTax return is prepared by a named tax expert and reviewed by a qualified CA before it is submitted — not generated by an unattended algorithm. We reconcile your return line-by-line against your AIS and Form 26AS to eliminate the mismatches that trigger most notices, quote a fixed fee upfront with no surprises, and stay reachable year-round rather than only in July. Your documents are stored securely, used solely to prepare your return, and handled in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act. That is what "expert, not guesswork" means in practice.
A qualified, named tax expert assigned to you prepares your return, and a CA reviews it before submission. You will know exactly who is handling your file and can speak to them directly. Nothing is auto-filed by software without human review, and the return is submitted only after you have seen the computation and approved it.
For most salaried taxpayers the due date is 31 July 2026. If you miss it, a belated return can be filed until 31 December 2026, but with a late fee under Section 234F and interest on any tax due. Filing early means your refund is processed sooner and you have time to correct any document mismatch.
It depends on your deductions. The new regime has lower slab rates but removes most exemptions; the old regime keeps deductions like 80C, 80D and HRA at higher rates. We compute your tax under both using your real numbers and file whichever leaves more money with you — and you see the comparison before we submit anything.
Most salaried individuals with one house property and no capital gains file ITR-1 (Sahaj). If you have capital gains, more than one house property, foreign income or you are a director in a company, it moves to ITR-2. You do not need to figure this out yourself — your expert selects and files the correct form based on your income.
Yes, and it is one of the most common cases we handle. When you have multiple Form 16s, your income and deductions must be consolidated so your tax slab is recomputed correctly — otherwise you may under-report or double-claim the standard deduction. We merge both employers, recompute the liability, and show you any shortfall before filing.
That mismatch is exactly what we check for. Before filing, your expert reconciles the TDS in your Form 16 with what appears in Form 26AS and the AIS. If they differ, we identify why — a delayed deposit, a wrong PAN, or missing income — and resolve it so your claim matches the department’s records and does not trigger a notice.
Yes. Your documents are stored securely, encrypted, used only to prepare your return, and never shared. You can ask us to delete them after filing. Our handling follows India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, so your salary details, PAN and bank information stay confidential throughout the process.
Most returns are ready for your approval within 48 hours of you uploading your documents. Once you approve the computation, filing and e-verification are completed quickly and you receive your ITR-V acknowledgement. Complex returns with capital gains or multiple income sources may take a little longer, and your expert will tell you upfront.
Most notices arise from mismatches we eliminate before filing, so they are far less likely on a reconciled EasyTax return. If a notice does arrive for a return we filed, our team helps you understand it and draft the correct response within the deadline. You are not left to decode legal language on your own.
Yes — finding every eligible deduction is a core part of the service. Beyond the common 80C and 80D, we check 80CCD(1B) for NPS, Section 24(b) home-loan interest, 80TTA/80TTB on savings interest, HRA, and education-loan interest under 80E. We only claim what you are genuinely entitled to, with the proof to support it.
